Welcome to Governors State University Department of Nursing, where we are building caring community in the Chicago southland, the USA, internationally, and on the web!
In August 2011, I was appointed GSU Director of Nursing and Chair of the Department of Nursing at Governors State University, an educational community known historically in the Chicago southland as a campus of tranquility. At GSU, we continue nursing’s professional heritage of preparing nurse leaders who provide quality holistic care, create healing environments, and build caring communities wherever they go.
Our nursing programs address the challenges of local, regional, national and global healthcare reform. The GSU nursing curriculum incorporates the latest recommendations from the Carnegie Foundation Report and the Institute of Medicine competencies for health professions education.
The GSU nursing faculty is comprised of local, national, and international leaders, Advanced Practice Nurses, seasoned educators, and doctorally-prepared researchers who provide students with exceptional educational experiences. I would like to personally invite you to consider joining this diverse community of GSU nurses as you build your career—a process we at GSU refer to as “Success by Degrees”!
