Communication Disorders Accreditation and Approval

The Master of Health Sciences in the Communication Disorders program at Governors State University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850-3289, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. The period of accreditation extends from November 1, 2007 through October 31, 2015.

Graduates meet all academic and practicum requirements for the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). This major also meets the academic requirements for licensure in speech-language pathology in the state of Illinois. 

The program also is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education and meets academic requirements for the School Service Personnel Certificate (Type 73) endorsed in non-teaching Speech-Language Pathology.
