Authority for the GSU Police Department is found in the Illinois Compiled Statutes 110 ILCS 670/15-45 (11).
GSU is patrolled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by state-certified police officers who are responsible for observing, reporting, and taking appropriate actions in all instances of suspicious or criminal activity.
They are also responsible for detecting and reporting fire and safety hazards, as well as implementing evacuation procedures.
