The School of Extended Learning’s American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI) offers International and U.S. students whose first language is not English excellent programs for how to learn English. Our wide range of programs includes private tutoring, workshops, community outreach programs, socialization opportunities, as well as an Intensive ESL Program. The primary focus of the ALCI’s programs is to assist students in achieving academic success by improving English skills with highly concentrated language instruction. Additionally the ALCI works closely with the Office of International Services to create co-curricular activities for students.

GSU is committed to providing the necessary support and resources to all students, faculty, and the community of ESL learners. Our innovative programs and services utilize cutting-edge teaching methods, curriculum design, and the most up-to-date research to effectively teach students to learn English.
Our comprehensive services include the Intensive ESL Program that prepares students academically, socially, and culturally for success as university students. Since one of the best ways to learn a language is to speak it, our courses include Listening and Speaking along with Reading and Writing, Integrated Studies, Multimodal Composing, Pronunciation, and Cross Cultural Contexts. We also offer test preparation for the TOEFL.
The Writing Center also offers a workshop series that focuses on writing an APA style research paper along with other related topics to further assist writers.
