Our Doctorate in Nursing is Built for Working Nurses
GSU’s Department of Nursing offers an excellent program to earn your doctorate in nursing that is built to accommodate the needs of working nurses. Our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree is designed for students to matriculate at two entry points: post baccalaureate or post master’s degree with a major in nursing. Once admitted to the program, you will specialize in one of our advanced professional practice concentrations. Your choices include: Community Behavior, Direct Practice, Leadership/Administration or Practitioner/Educator. The DNP program gives nurses the skills and expertise to assume positions of leadership in a variety of healthcare settings and provides a focus on the care of vulnerable populations.
Earn Your Doctorate in Nursing and Become a Leader
Admission to our doctorate in nursing program is very competitive and only a limited number of students will be accepted. All students must meet the university admission criteria as well as those of the DNP program. As many of our students are working nurses, the typical course load is two classes per semester. Also, the program does not accept students during Spring or Summer semesters.
GSU’s nursing faculty is comprised of local, national, and international leaders, Advanced Practice Nurses, seasoned educators and doctorally-prepared researchers who provide students with exceptional educational experiences. Nursing students will discover our program offers an accessible, high-quality nursing education that fosters the acquisition of professional knowledge, values and skills.
To streamline the application process for the DNP Program, we use the automated NursingCAS system. It is a nationwide, centralized application service available to students applying to registered nursing programs across the U.S. The Web-based service allows students to apply to any number of participating programs by completing just one application.
Please see our Doctor of Nursing Practice Program web pages for further information regarding the application process and complete requirements.
