Governors State’s masters in criminal justice program offers professionals the opportunity to become leaders in the community and to help effect change.  Our M.A. in Criminal Justice promotes social and ethical responsibility in the community through real-world applications of problem-solving and leadership.  As a student, you will enhance and develop abilities through challenging course work that has a strong focus on leadership theory and methods, self-assessment of leadership strengths, and improvement in leadership skills.  The curriculum emphasizes current research and community collaboration for justice system assessment and improvement. 


Masters in Criminal Justice - Practical and Academically Rigorous


GSU’s masters in criminal justice degree is a blend of classes, workshops and seminars with a concentration in research, evaluation, data analysis, crime control and prevention and organizational leadership.  Our students are taught by a faculty that brings a vast background of applied and theoretical experiences from the field into the classroom.  Additionally as a well-established program, we have developed extensive networks and resources from within the community to offer students a myriad of opportunities for meaningful hand-on experiences. 

The comprehensive program focuses on utilizing the most effective problem-solving techniques to use throughout the various stages of the criminal justice process.  In addition our criminal justice students benefit from a highly diverse and experienced student body that is comprised of individuals from a variety of careers and educational backgrounds.  As a student at GSU, you have the opportunity to exchange a wide variety of ideas and experiences with fellow students that is not present in every educational institution.
