Criminal Justice Colleges

Looking at Criminal Justice Colleges?  Discover the Differences at GSU

Choosing the right college is a hard decision given all of the variables you must consider and the impact it will have on your future career opportunities.  This is why we encourage you to take a serious look at Governors State’s criminal justice program as there are many advantages that set it apart from other criminal justice colleges.  One of the biggest benefits we offer students is our exceptional academic programs that have the most affordable tuition rate of any 4-year college in Illinois.

Why Not Choose One of the Best Criminal Justice Colleges?

Our College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) has a challenging, topnotch undergraduate and graduate degree program in criminal justice as well as a certification in Restorative Justice. Courses are taught by highly-trained professionals that have extensive experience in the field and not by teaching assistants as in many other criminal justice colleges.

Along with one of our excellent concentrations in Community-based and Restorative Justice, we also offer a Restorative Justice Certificate.  Restorative justice is a collaborative process that involves the victim, the community and offender-base practices that hold offenders accountable for the consequences of their actions.  Both the concentration and certificate provide five courses of thought-provoking instruction on the foundational concepts of conflict management and restorative justice that encompass theory and practice.  Our program prepares students with hands-on experience and practice-oriented workshops that prepare them to become competent practitioners in their communities and workplaces.

Students opting for our criminal justice programs at GSU will learn about the traditional aspects of law enforcement, courts and judiciary system, corrections and juvenile justice.  Our program also recognizes the interdependence of social traditions and the values and legal structures that impact policy questions in a democratic society.   Studies include challenging course work and practical, real-life experiences with opportunities for internships and senior seminars.

Governors State University invites you to explore our many degree, certificate and individual course offerings listed on our website.  In every college we offer programs that are taught by gifted professors with a focus on delivering academic excellence in a small-class setting.  Once you learn more about our program, we are sure you will agree that GSU is one of the best criminal justice colleges.
