Military Students

McLellan as Graduate

In 1997, Governors State University joined other colleges and universities offering educational opportunities to active-duty service members as part of the AFLOAT program offered by the Navy.

We have subsequently expanded our offerings and partnerships to include the Coast Guard and Army National Guard.

Today, Governors State University offers service members an opportunity to finish the bachelor's degree by giving credit for military training and other college courses. GSU can be your military education home school by applying prior credits and learning experiences toward your B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. See courses offered to active duty service members.

The advising staff have been trained to help you complete your degree at a distance and can support you through phone or electronic communication. Attendance on campus is not required to complete the B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies.

To learn more about how you can get college credit for military training, contact the Interdisciplinary Studies office at 708.534.4092 or email idss@govst.edu.  You can also contact the office of the Coordinator for Veterans and Military Personnel at veterans@govst.edu.
