Alumni Awards
The Governors State University Alumni Association is sponsoring the 2009 Alumni Awards program.
The Alumni Awards honor graduates who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought credit to the university.
Two awards will be presented at our 40th Anniversary Celebration on November 7, 2009.
Criteria for Nomination
- Alumni can self-nominate themselves.
- Nominees must be graduates who have received at least one degree from Governors State University.
- Nominees must be able to be contacted with current home/business information.
- Nominees, if selected, must be available to attend the award ceremony on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the 40th Anniversary Celebration at Governors State University.
- Alumni are ineligible if they are:
- Full-time employees of the University. (Alumni who are adjunct faculty members/part-time staff may be nominated.)
- Currently serving on the GSU Alumni Association Board of Directors or Selection Committee.
- Elected officials or candidates for any public office.
Alumni Award Categories
Outstanding Community Service Award
This honor is bestowed upon an alumna/alumnus who has demonstrated extraordinary community service to public and private institutions and organizations that work to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and/or society in general.
Distinguished Professional Achievement
This honor is bestowed upon an alumna/alumnus who has attained outstanding success and distinction in their chosen business, profession or life work, and has received some previous recognition from contemporaries.

Submission of Nominations
Nominations must be received by September 30, 2009 to be considered for awards recognition. Submit nomination form to: Governors State University, Alumni Association, 1 University Parkway, University Park, IL 60484.
