Yevette Brown's "Respond to Violence" will air May 18 on WTTW

The first part of an initiative created by GSU professor Yevette Brown to address violence in the Chicagoland area will be aired next month on WTTW, Channel 11.

“Respond to Violence: Communities in Crisis” will air May 18 at 2 p.m.

The program explores the devastating impact of violence on families and neighborhoods and how they are fighting back. The program panel consists of: U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly Democratic of the 2nd Congressional District of Illinois; Attorney Irv Miller, legal correspondent for Channel 2 News Chicago; and Marlita White, director of the Office For Violence Prevention for the City of Chicago's Department of Public Health. The program is moderated by Robert Jordan, weekend anchor for WGN-TV.

The show was taped in front of a studio audience of community organizations, educators and the families of violence victims Hadiya Pendleton and Blair Holt. Support one of GSU’s own and watch on May 18.
