| Chakaia Booker sculpture being constructed outside F wing |
Governors State has three additions to its sculpture park from sculptor Chakaia Booker. The new additions will be located on the E-Lounge patio, the F wing quadrangle and the meadow across the lake.
Ms. Booker will visit campus in September as a special guest at the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park’s Carts & Cocktails and Visiting Artist event September 12 – 17, where she will interact with students and staff and deliver a talk on her work.
Ms. Booker’s sculpture has been exhibited across the globe. Most recently she completed a presentation on New York Ave. in affiliation with the National Women Museum of the Arts in Washington, D.C. An exhibition will debut on Broadway in SoHo on the island of Manhattan in New York City in June. One of the works in the GSU exhibition, “What’s Not,” was exhibited in Beijing, China.
