 Permanent link

The next film in the Civil Rights Film Series is the 1991’s “The Five Heartbeats” from director Robert Townsend. The screening and discussion afterward will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 5 p.m. in E Lounge. The moderator will be Art Gallery Director Jeff Stevenson.

Please tell your students and take your classes to this film, which tells the story of the rise and fall of an African-American vocal group. The film stars Robert Townsend, Michael Wright, Harry Lennix and Leon.

More information on the Civil Rights Film Series and the yearlong campus-wide commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and Freedom Summer can be found at www.davidgolland.com/1964.htm. We hope to see you and your students next Thursday.

The spring semester portion of the Civil Rights Film Series is brought to you through a generous grant from the Intellectual Life Committee. Captioning is available upon request.
