Dr. James E. Marcia will present his research on the establishment of individual identity during a video conference March 6 at the GSU Naperville Education Center, located at 2244 95th St., Naperville. Dr. Marcia’s presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in room 308.
Dr. Marcia is internationally known for his extensive research and writings on psychosocial development with special attention to adolescent psychosocial and lifespan identity development. His landmark theory of identity achievement suggests that there are two distinct variables that contribute to the achievement of identity: Crisis (making active choices) and commitment (level of personal sacrifice and involvement).
