GSU Hosts Woman 2 Woman Conference

University Park, Illinois, February 23, 2007 – In honor of Women’s History Month, Governors State University will host the annual Woman 2 Woman Conference on March 17, 2007.

Central to this year’s conference activities is a lunch with special guest speaker, Michele Garb, who will present “Fat Brain/Skinny Body” at noon in the Hall of Governors.

Garb, a comedienne, created her presentation on eating disorder awareness and positive body self-image as a result of her own 15-year battle with anorexia. Her personal experiences coping with an eating disorder and issues of recovery help create a powerful message for women everywhere. Her lecture is warm and funny as well as informative and inspiring.

Garb is currently in the process of forming “Edith Eats,” a non-profit eating disorder organization, which recently gained support and funding through the NCAA. As a comedian, Garb works in major clubs in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. She has appeared on the Chris Rock Show and is a respected comic and lecturer.

In addition to Garb’s presentation, the Woman 2 Woman Conference will also feature a vendor and information fair in the Hall of Governors from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Information concerning issues of women’s health and well-being, insurance issues, message therapy, and organic skin care will be available.

The conference is sponsored by Office of Student Life at Governors State University. Advanced registration for the lunch is required. Admission to the lunch is $10, however GSU students will be admitted for free. Governors State University is located at 1 University Parkway, University Park. For more information and to register, call (708) 235-7362.
