Governors State University to hold university-wide open house

University Park, April 19, 2006 – Governors State University will hold a University-Wide Open House on Saturday, April 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Prospective students and parents will be able to meet with Governors State faculty, as well as advisors for the university’s academic programs.

“We’ve created a solid agenda to help potential students understand the quality of GSU’s academic programs and to learn about the support services that are available to them,” said Randy Tumblin, Director of Admissions and Student Enrollment.

Tumblin said representatives will be on hand to walk students through all aspects of university enrollment.

“We’ll have workshops for undergraduate transfer students and students interested in our master’s programs,” he said. “Potential students will find out exactly what they’ll need to become a successful student here.”

Tumblin added that many potential students who want to complete their education often think they can’t afford it. “Governors State University continues to be an affordable option for students in the region. In addition to being reasonably priced, we offer financial aid to both full and part time students.”

Representatives from the university’s Office of Career Services will conduct a workshop that will show students how to prepare for employment and new careers. The event will also feature tours of the university, refreshments, and a raffle drawing.

“This is a perfect opportunity for prospective students to come in and see what we have to offer up close,” Tumblin said. “We’ll be able to prove to them that GSU should be their first choice for higher education.”

RSVP’s are appreciated but not required. To RSVP or for more information, contact the Office of Admissions at 708.534.4490.
