University Park, IL, April 7, 2008 – The CenterPoint for Entrepreneurs at Governors State University is hosting a Veterans Entrepreneurial Boot Camp on Thursday, May 8. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. The Veterans Entrepreneurial Boot Camp is offered at no cost to veterans or the families/business partners of those serving in the military. The event is co-sponsored by Phoenix Business Solutions, The Horton Group, and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Designed by military veterans, the full-day event is the first of its kind to be held in the South Suburbs and offers support to the families and business partners of our servicemen and women currently on active duty.
Patrick Rea, U.S. Small Business Administration Regional Director and U.S. Army Reserve General, will be the keynote speaker.
In addition to Rea’s appearance, the day features presentations and seminars from industry professionals, opportunities for free one-on-one counseling, lunch with a panel of ex-military business owners, and access to CenterPoint’s numerous entrepreneurial services and resources. Break-out workshops will focus on a variety of topics including business operations, business financing and the Patriot Loan, human resource management, cash flow management, and business planning.
“The Veterans Entrepreneurial Boot Camp offers the perfect combination of resources tailored specifically to address the needs of military personnel,” said CenterPoint director Hilary Burkinshaw. “Veterans will have the opportunity to learn from entrepreneurial experts, other military veterans, and one another during this exceptionally informative event.”

They provide expert management assistance to 600 entrepreneurs a year as they develop, grow, finance and improve their businesses.
