University Park, Illinois, October 24, 2007 - Governors State University recently named Dr. Carol Cortilet-Albrecht as Registrar. Cortilet-Albrecht comes to GSU after spending seven years at DeVry University. Her most recent role at DeVry was as Lead Metropolitan Registrar for the Chicago Metropolitan DeVry University system.

As Registrar at GSU, Cortilet-Albrecht will oversee the operation of the Registrar’s Office including student records maintenance and retention, oversight of student academic histories and transcripts, and graduation verification and processing.Carol Cortilet

Cortilet-Albrecht has a special interest in customer service issues as they relate to students. “I’m excited to be at GSU and fully on-board with a new focus on customer service,” she said. “By providing the best customer service possible to students, we can ensure that their educational experience is as smooth and complete as possible.”

In addition to the focus on customer service, Cortilet-Albrecht has also taken a critical look at how the university’s Registrar’s Office currently operates and has identified three areas for development. “We will immediately address how we process transcripts, look to simplify the student appeals process, and work to implement a new classroom scheduling system,” said Cortilet-Albrecht.

“Carol brings unique talents to the university,” said Dr. Sherilyn Poole, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at GSU. “With her help, our students can expect quicker response times and improved communication regarding registration-related issues.”

Cortilet-Albrecht holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Science Degree from Illinois State University, as well as a Master of Adult Education Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Psychology from National-Louis University. She resides in Plainfield with her husband.
