Meet La Toshia Burrell, Associate Athletic Director and Women's Head Basketball Coach

LaToshia-BurrellGSU Jaguar Women's Basketball Coach and Associate Athletic Director knows the competition and how to develop stand-out players. Coach Burrell has coached collegiate level women's basketball for more than six years, most recently at Roosevelt University, Chicago, where she helped lead the team to a CCAC conference title and to the Sweet 16 at Nationals. Prior to that, she was head women's basketball coach at Trinity Christian College and served as Assistant Professor in Exercise Science, an academic advisor and on the Ethnic Diversity Committee. Toshia played basketball at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, where she earned her B.A. in Exercise Science. Warburg is also where she began her coaching debut as Varsity assistant coach and Junior Varsity head coach. She has a master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Northern Iowa and is a certified personal trainer and licensed massage therapists focusing on sports massage therapy and therapeutic massage.

"My ultimate coaching goal is to a create a competitive attitude and atmosphere in which each individual can develop to meet life's obstacles and challenges and live a life of leadership and service. I look forward to recruiting, building relationships, mentoring, and coaching these young women. My coaching staff and I will provide strong leadership; laying the foundation for our student-athletes to use concepts learned through the game of basketball: diversity, teamwork, discipline, responsibility and adversity, toward success in the classroom and life."
