Governors State University will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary January 2019 - July 2020 and all members of the GSU community are invited to participate.

We invite you to submit a proposal for an event, initiative or activity that you would like to present during the 50th Anniversary period. Your proposals may be eligible for partial funding, and should be crafted to showcase the anniversary’s theme and target outcomes. 

  • Review Process

    The proposal submission process will determine the events, initiatives and activities which will be identified as 50th Anniversary activities.   Any proposals not requiring funding or submitted after November 5, 2019 will require approval of the 50th Anniversary Steering Committee in order to be endorsed as 50th Anniversary event, initiative or activity.

     

    Proposals will be reviewed by the Proposal Review Committee.

    Approved proposals will be identified as GSU 50th Anniversary activities and the presenters of these events, initiatives or activities will be required to provide a self-evaluation of the event, initiative or activity and a final report.  Successful applicants will be notified in December.

  • Proposal Requirements

    Proposals may be submitted online by GSU departments/units and employees. Students, alumni, and community groups may apply for funding through a GSU department/unit that will have the authority over the event, initiative or activity. 

     

    The online proposal includes the following six sections:

  • 1. Contact Information

    +

    Provide the name, title and contact information (phone, email) of the person who has responsibility for this event, initiative or activity.

  • 2. Description

    +

    Provide a detailed summary of the proposed event, initiative or activity. Identify the objective and the manner in which the proposal will support the anniversary target outcomes. Explain whether this is a new event, initiative or activity, or an enhancement of an existing annual event, initiative or activity.

  • 3. Intended Audience

    Indicate the target audience and estimate the number of people who will be involved and/or reached.

  • 4. Location and Timing of Event, Initiative or Activity

    Please note the event/initiative is not required to take place at a GSU location, but should occur within the Anniversary time frame April 2019 – July 2020.

  • 5. Estimated Cost

    Provide a proposed budget. Identify all funding sources (e.g. department funding, carry-forward, in-kind contributions, etc.) and indicate the dollar amount being requested, if applicable, from the University through this Call for Proposals process. Note that the funding available through this call for proposals is not intended to cover the full cost of hosting/presenting an event, initiative or activity.

  • 6. Approval

    Include the name and email address of the appropriate sponsoring budget holder as indication of support from the unit. This applies to all submissions.
